hi all, happy... thursday? yep, I had to get this out a day early this week!
this update is still not very exciting, since it's almost exclusively UI stuff. however, I am happy with how it all came together. the UI itself feels pretty smooth, and it handles most interactions pretty quickly I think, since a goal of mine was to keep the "menu-ing" as minimal as possible. I want to keep everything on one screen, to make the game more focused on the environment than just navigating menus.
that said, I'm still not done adding UI elements, unfortunately. I plan to have another piece of UI for selecting tools, and an extension of that which deals with building things. but after those are added, I think the main gameplay UI stuff will be done! if all goes according to plan, there will be no menus that take up the main space of the screen!
now, you may be wondering, what are the two bars in the top-right? well, those are the two main obstacles in the game! I'll explain more later when they're functional, so for now, I'll just say that the smaller one is a hunger bar. I hope to get some work done that is more akin to genuine gameplay by next update!
