heya! happy friday once again!
like I mentioned last update, there was likely going to be less content in today's update and.. well.. that's kind of true. for one, I've had a couple things happen in my personal life that ate up a lot of time, and one of them will continue to eat up time. meaning, I have less time (or more accurately energy) for game dev than I once did. :(
but! that didn't stop me from crossing a milestone. I've added a home screen and a pause screen! the home screen generates a background using the same decoration algorithm as the rest of the game, so it's unique each time you visit it. it's pretty basic for now, but I like the simplicity of it.
aside from some other small tweaks like improved dust particles, that's all I have for visible updates. however, I've done a fair bit behind the scenes. actually, I'll give a peek behind the curtain...
for testing purposes, I've added a super basic map. if I were to add a map in the actual game, it would be stylized and shrunken down in some way, so it remains to be seen whether it'll be an actual feature. as to why I created this map, I'll be adding some more things to cave generation very soon, so I wanted a way to quickly see where things are placed. the white pixels are what I was testing, but I won't say what. ;)
